Minimally Invasive
At Colorado Reproductive Endocrinology, we use minimally-invasive surgical techniques such as hysteroscopy and laparoscopy, along with state-of-the-art robotic surgery to ensure our patients lives get back to normal as soon as possible.
About Minimally Invasive Surgery
Using minimally invasive surgical techniques, your doctor makes one or more small, precise incisions, each less than a half-inch long. The number of incisions depends on the type of surgery to be done. The surgeon then places a tiny video camera and specially designed small surgical instruments into the incisions and performs the procedure.
The doctors at CRE are dedicated to the latest advances in minimally invasive reproductive surgery, which, as opposed to open-incision surgery, offers these benefits to patients:
-Less post-operative pain
-Shorter recovery times
-Smaller surgical incision
-Shorter hospital stay
-Earlier return to normal activities
At CRE, our doctors are experts in using minimally invasive procedures to treat any number of conditions that affect the uterus, fallopian tubes, or ovaries.
The most common types of minimally invasive surgery are:
Laparoscopy- A small telescopic camera is inserted through an incision in the abdomen allowing the doctor to see inside and, if needed, surgically repair any problems.
Hysteroscopy- A small telescopic camera is inserted through the vagina and cervix allowing the surgeon to view the inside of the patient’s uterus.
Robotic Surgery- A type of minimally-invasive surgery where a surgeon remotely controls mechanical robotic arms and small instruments from a nearby control station.
