Minimally Invasive Surgery
At Colorado Reproductive Endocrinology, we use minimally invasive surgical techniques such as hysteroscopy, laparoscopy, and robotically-controlled procedures to ensure our patients lives get back to normal as quickly as possible.
About Minimally Invasive Surgery
With minimally invasive surgical techniques, the doctor makes one or more small, precise incisions, each less than a half-inch long. The number of incisions depends on the type of surgery to be done. The surgeon then places a tiny video camera and specially designed small surgical instruments into the incisions and performs the procedure.
Benefits of Minimally Invasive Surgery
The doctors at CRE are experts in using minimally invasive procedures to treat any number of conditions that affect the uterus, fallopian tubes, or ovaries. This type of surgery offers these benefits over open-incision surgery:
- Less post-operative pain
- Shorter recovery times
- Smaller surgical incision
- Shorter hospital stay
- Earlier return to normal activities
Types of Minimally Invasive Surgery
A small telescopic camera is inserted through an incision in the abdomen. This camera allows the doctor to see inside the body, and if needed, surgically repair any problems.
A small telescopic camera is inserted through the vagina and cervix, allowing the surgeon to view the inside of the patient’s uterus.
A surgeon remotely controls mechanical robotic arms and small instruments from a nearby control station.
